I don't have much to report due to dang covid! I have not felt too bad, had a high fever one night, lots of sinus drainage, and now a cough that includes tickle coughing fits, could be so much worse. We are ever so thankful for our own beach equipment as we have gone to secluded spots on the beach a few times. Otherwise I hang in the room, reading and doing a puzzle that Dave bought for me, and a little sweeping and cleaning, have to do something to keep busy.
Dave has so far remained healthy, he set up a bed on our futon, we keep our sliders open 24/7 and our ceiling fans going, mask in side, when we eat one of us eats inside the other outside, its the best we can do in our small space.
I do not take the elevator in our building, no one takes the stairs here which are basically out side. Or I take the back entrance to our building with is right outside our back door and take a stair case that is between our building and the next down to the beach, then proceed down the long steep staircase to the beach. Then back up it all to our room, its a good test to tell if my lungs are still ok, so far no problem!
The waves have calmed down considerably today. I had read that a tropical cyclone in the western pacific is what has been causing our high surf and huge waves. Guess there was a near drowning the other day right where we hang out. Today on the beach we observed the lifeguards doing a boot camp! They worked out hard, obviously they need to stay in good shape.
Dave has been putting in many miles and steps since I can't go and do anything, he just walks and walks! While I have had record low steps, think it was about 4,200 yesterday since I didn't go to the beach, lowest I have ever had! Yesterday Dave walked to the cruise ship pier to meet up with the driver/tour guide we set up for my mom and her friends who were arriving on a cruise, I was to go with them but obviously I couldn't. He met them and the driver and then walked to the Versille neighborhood and had lunch at a little place we have walked by a few times and had been wanting to try. The owner told him they don't get many tourists, mostly locals eat there. Dave had a great lunch all with homemade hand pressed corn tortillas, a quesadilla and a huarache. He visited with the young owners and told them he does a farm to table type show, they told him they are a farm to table restaurant, they grown almost all of their own ingredients. I was so bummed I missed out but Dave told them he was going to come back with his wife :)
My mom called me from their driver phone, glad I answered a Mexico number, to ask me how I was doing. They happened to be having drinks at La Playita which is right where our friends are staying so I texted Kitty that they were there and she popped over and chatted with them and got a few great pictures for me! I was so happy she did that, what a great friend!
Otherwise we have been eating in and packing our lunches for the beach. Dave is doing most of the cooking because he doesn't want me touching anything, I get it! As well as all the shopping, what a guy :) Today he walked a couple miles to get us a take out pizza for lunch, he might be getting tired of packing our lunches!
The big bummer is we have missed seeing our friends who have now left and miss seeing our friends who are here now. And I have a long list of new restaurants, some just new to us, that I wanted to try this trip.... guess we may be eating out a lot when I am out of quarantine!
I have read 3 books so far, 2 really great ones that I highly recommend - "The Chemist" and "What Looks Like Crazy" and one good book "The Paper Palace", now I am about to start "The Midnight Library" which was highly recommended by our friend Loree :)
