We woke up to a beautiful rainbow out our window.
We had stopped at a Tesco Express on our way home last night to pick up some yogurt and granola and also a Starbucks stop for some instant coffee for me, too lazy to use the french press! Dave went out to find himself a decaf coffee, then we enjoyed breakfast with our view.
I had pre reserved a free walking tour with 100 Spires, you tip what you think the tour was worth. We walked to our meeting point, there were 2 guides and they divided us up. I think we hit the jackpot with David our guide! Maybe each guide had 20 people at most. He was so interesting! Best tour we have ever had. After our paid tour in London thinking the "free tours" may be the way to go. And we tipped him more than we paid for our paid tour in London, well worth it! We started at the Old Town Square and the astromonical clock, way too much info to write here, google if interested.
Made our way to the Jewish Quarter, so much history. Would have been nice to take that tour too, not enough time for everything.
On to the St Charles Bridge, which was built in the 1300's and was the only way to cross the River Vltava until the 1800's. It is lined with 30 Baroque statues, some that are worn from people rubbing them for good luck.
We then made our way to the Lennon wall. In 1980 when Lennon died it was still a communist country here, some people found ways to get news and started sending messages on this wall because it was across the street from the French embassy in a hidden area so people were not afraid of being noticed, the French turned an eye, it has become an impromptu memorial.
Our tour ended here at the Lennon wall, we went into the gift shop there then walk around. Floods have happened here, this shows how high the water was in 2002!
