Prague - Sept 26

We enjoy the last of our Nespresso coffee in our room, knowing we only have a french press at the Airbnb in Prague. I should have paid more attention to that when booking! Our flight on Ryanair is out of the Stanstead airport, which is quite a distance. According the Dave's phone the bus was the best option for getting there, we had checked it out days ahead, I originally thought we would Uber.  We caught the bus outside of our door taking it to the Liverpool station where we then caught the Stanstead express bus. We packed light, only taking a small carry on each. Check in lines were long, glad we allowed plenty of time. We spent our time in line taking to a lovely woman from Canada, recently retired who has been traveling solo for 1 month. She told us she went to a Westside theater show each night! Mama Mia being her favorite, next time!  We had to hold up our bags when we checked in, and they passed size!  Ryanair is very strict.

After a 2.5 hour plane ride we arrived in Prague. I had prebooked a private car to pick us up as public transportation is not as convenient and easy as London. We had a lovely chat with our driver during the 40 minute ride to the airbnb. We were met there by a member of the agency I booked through. I picked this airbnb because of the balcony and view and it did not disappoint! It was a highlight of our stay at this apartment. Downside was a French press and a lingering sew gas smell. The apartment was built I think around 1960 and had a working elevator, which we were told was quite rare. It was a communist county until 1989. We felt like we were taking a risk each time we used the elevator though!

Our view and balcony made it all worth it! Dave stopped by the wine shop below the condo and picked up a bottle of wine and plate of topped crostini. Wonderful way to start our time here in beautiful Prague.

We headed out to explore and try to find a cash machine, we went from British Pounds to Czech Koruna. We have a free walking tour in the morning and want to be able to pay/tip in cash. I apologetically gave our driver US dollars for a tip because that was all I had, and I gave our host Euros that I had brought from home to pay the city tax, knowing that they accept Euros here.

The apartment is only a few blocks from the new town square, and very close to the old town square so an amazing location. We found a bank cash machine, only type we will use, then headed to a market that was selling fresh produce and picked up a container of berries and a few bananas that came to about 22 USD! What the heck! Guess we do not know price per kilo! Oh well, we paid for over priced produce.

We headed back to our place and found a place for dinner that I had read about on tripadvisor that was highly rated for local Czech food. I can't recall the name. It was charming and we had a  couple of friendly lovely women waiting on us who gave us recommendations as to what to have. I had goulash, and Dave a pork dish with cabbage. Well, we were not so sure we like the local food! Dave loved his beer and I had a nice pour of good wine.

We enjoyed our night time view from our balcony!

And tomorrow we may try the Vietnamese place down the block from us for dinner!
