Today was a Dave type of day! ( that is what he told me when I ask "what all did we do today")
It was a 12 miles on our feet day! (Mileage clocked by Daves run keeper!) Had a morning run, breakfast of fruit and rolls from the pharmacy, then headed off to explore. We love wandering through the neighborhoods, watching the tortilla making, shopping, and just taking in the local culture. Highlight was the little Mexican family marching down the side walk playing instruments, mom, dad and 2 young boys, playing horns and drums! They were good! And what a creative way to make some money, looked like the kiddos were having fun! Got a few pesos from us! Wish I would have taken a picture but was just to into the moment! We stopped at the fabric store and purchased the colorful plastic coated fabric that is so popular here for table cloths, will be great at the lake:). Then went to Chez Elena, hotel where the cast and crew stayed during filming of Night Of The Iguana, there is a lady from Wisconsin who is a wonderful artist, she stays there for a few months during the winter and sells her artwork right outside of her doorway, Dave always purchases some of her cards, we finally met her and she showed us her room/studio. We love to go to Chez Elena for sunset drinks on their roof top bar.
Had lunch at a new Yucatan style tapas place, I know Yucatan and tapas???!!
Went to our favorite produce stand, the picture shows what we purchased for around 5.40 US dollars.
Made a stop at Vinos Americas for a few bottles of wine, always a challenge finding decent wine.
On our way back ran into Mark again, he had just been to a art gallery and had his cast painted! He said he is going to hang it on his wall when it comes off! Guess that is making the best of an unfortunate situation :)
Returned to the villa to make a black bean dip for the happy hour our neighbors put together.
We enjoyed a great time with some of the other guests as well as the owners Mariette and Heubert (guessing on the spellings) and Denise, Mariette's sister who runs the place, what great and fun people :)
More lightening and rain tonight, mild in comparison to last night though!
The following pictures were taken around town today as we walked and shopped.
We had simply the best day!
Happy Valentine's Day! Thanks for sharing all the great pics
