Tokyo Day 4

It rained all day. We have been lucky that this was the first rain, we will probably get more. After donning our raincoats and grabbing our umbrellas we headed off to a place for fluffy Japanese pancakes for breakfast, only to find the line very long, couple behind us said inside is very tiny probably a couple hour wait! Not doing that, found another breakfast place same story. We found a Starbucks Reserve and had a great breakfast of veggie pesto sandwiches and donuts for dessert since we are on vacation!

After breakfast we walked to a shopping mall Ginza Six to garden roof top for city view, obviously not best day for view but that was the plan!

Next we walked to Hamarikyu Gardens, a traditional Japanese garden featuring a tea house on an island in the parks central island, along with 5 old structures that have been used in the past for entertaining guests. Even with the rain we thoroughly enjoyed the peace and beauty of the garden set in the middle of this huge city.

Above is an old shrine on the park grounds.

Next we walked to the Tsukiji Outer Market, a hub of food stalls offering fresh seafood and street food. We shared a couple of items, rice cake topped with crab and grilled eel.

Walking through a mall area we ran into a sushi training school!

On our way walking back to our hotel we stopped for a very late lunch at The Toast House cafe. Fun place that actually puts a toaster on your table for you to make your own toast, we had sandwiches so didn’t get that.

Notice how crust was cut off the un toasted sandwich and served on the side.

We braved it and entered Tokyo Station to look at a few stores and for Dave to get a train stamp. Couple we visited with from the Netherlands collect train stamps, add e decided he needs to do this.

Once again it had been a long day with lots of walking so we stopped at a tiny restaurant and ordered take away food to have at our tiny table in our hotel room. Dave had soba noodles with miso broth and chicken, rice and chicken bowl for me. Finished the evening with doing a load of laundry before we get on the cruise ship tomorrow. Most of the hotels in Japan have laundry machines to use which is very handy!
