This day we visited the Meiji Shrine. Shrines are Shinto religion, the indigenous religion of Japan. While Temples are Buddhist. Both are not frequented regularly for weekly religious worship but used to go to pray or for special celebrations which we witnessed today, a wedding! Due to that we were not allowed inside but were able to go up to the outside of shrine to see in. We did the ritual of throwing coins into offering, bow, clap twice and bow again.

Entrance to grounds

Hand and mouth washing before entering. A display of saki barrels that are donated yearly to the Shrine.

The newly wedded or to be wed getting photos!
People are invited to write prayers of thanks and are hung around a huge tree.
We then walked to the Harajuku district to the very youthful street, Takeshita, full of food stalls and shops geared towards young people.

And most surprising was all the shops where you can pay to go in and play with animals!

We had some really bad food from a couple of vendors, all the vendors here are geared to the very youthful crowd, actually my matcha ice cream was ok, just not a matcha fan I guess.

Then we walked to go be a part of and view the famous Shibuya Crossing. After crossing it ourselves we went to a Share Cafe where you purchase an hour and get all the drinks and snacks you want while comfortably watching the crossing from above.

We were tired and felt like a salad for dinner after bad food day so stopped at a Natural Lawsons store and got a couple salads for dinner, then picked up a veggie curry at a little restaurant. After all the walking we called it a day around 8:00 and just settled in and enjoyed our take out dinner.
