St Maarten
Our last port day before 2 sea days and home. We were off the ship shortly after it docked and walked to Phillipsburg, the port town. We then walked all along great bay which is a huge beach area where you can get lounge chairs for the day, my goal was to walk to Liitle Bay for some beach time. After about 3 miles and some spectacular views we arrived at at Divi Resort on Little Bay and paid for 2 chairs and umbrella. It was a lovely beach but water was a little rough for me. I did swim in a little quieter area of the beach but quickly got out when I saw a huge jellyfish! Maybe that was the reason no one was swimming in the calm part of the Bay. We only stayed a couple of hours because I wanted to explore Marigot for n the French side, the island is decided into two parts, Dutch side and French and we have never explored the French side other than Orient beach. We caught a taxi for 20.00. The driver showed us were we could catch a bus to take us back to Phillipsburg. We had a nice lunch in a French bakery , sandwhiches on baguetts and a yummy chocolate desert way better than any of the cruise ship desserts! We wandered through the colorful markets and long the waterfront filled with huge yachts then caught a bus back for 2.00 per person, really just a 12 passengers van. Wandered around no Phillipsburg before walking my back to the ship. We had a very full day of exploring! After dinner we all went to watch the comedian, He was a hoot, then off to bed!
