Day 11

Day 11 and going forward will be on misscindystravels.wordpress.com

I have been having too many issues with this blog site, now I can’t get pictures to load even with Dave’s help. Dave helped me set up Wordpress before we left home because there had been so many issues with blogspot but I was being stubborn and wanted to continue on the same site. I have learned my lesson.....I should have listened to Dave...

Day 10

I woke up, had coffee and a banana and headed out for a walk to Leys for my cold item groceries. It is 1.5 miles each way, I finally checked on my Fitbit.  It was already heating up outside on my way back but my cold items still felt cold when I put them away. I  had quick second breakfast of papaya and PB on toast, showered then headed out for the produce stand. I put out my sign to make up my room. When we stay for a longer time they give us 2 days off housekeeping, it worked out perfect to have then switch out the two twin beds Debbie and I had for a king bed. Poor employees here, I bet they hate that! Tips are well deserved!
Produce market was very busy with a long line to check out and again a fairly long walk along with another stops I made. I didn’t get any photos of produce makes due to my arms being full when I finally thought about it. I was probably gone  1.5 hours and they were still cleaning my room, new bed in place. So I dropped off my produce on the counter and told Regeyna (? ) I would be back and went to pool deck and chatted with Loraine and Brian from where else......Manitoba. I am surprised than with many couples here from that area they all first met here. Loraine is always knitting when I see her. She is a retired nurse and now makes what she calls mitts out of recycled wool and sweaters that she lines with fleece and tops with her knitting, she sells them at farmers markets. I need to see a picture of her mitts before they move to another hotel on Saturday. After 30 minutes I check and Regeyna is still in my room! So back to the pool deck I go! Finally after 1:00 she is just finishing up! I put away the produce and finally make lunch, I was starving by the time I ate at 2:00.

Dave texted that is has arrived and waiting for taxi, he had the fastest time ever getting through th airport....maybe Tuesday is the day to arrive!

After he unpacks we head out for a walk and dinner at Fajita Republic.

Dave is tired since he started his day at 2:00 am, back at our room and he is asleep at 9:00! I stay up and keep reading the book api started on the way down, “Educated”, excellent book, almost done with it :)

Day 9

Debbie goes home today, I hope she had a great week in spite of Cindy’s Boot Camp in the heat and humidity! Somehow putting in many miles a day just happens here!

Debbie got up and packed up for the most part before we headed out to walk along the Malecón, beach, and last minute shopping she wanted to do. Had lunch along the way at Los Muertos Brewery, had their 75.00 pesco lunch special, slice of pizza, fries and either beer or soda. What a deal. Oh and we had lunch entertainment for free.....local lady did some real nice dancing on the sidewalk by our table! Funny thing is the staff turned off the music to get her to stop, but obviously she had her own music playing in her head :) They finally just turned their music back on, she eventually made her way down the sidewalk.

Umbrella street

At 2:00 Debbie and I said our goodbyes, it has been nice having sister time :) Denise called up a taxi for her and she was off to the airport.

I then walked the 1.5 miles each way to Leys for 1/2 of the groceries I wanted. I knew I couldn’t haul it all back by myself and too hot for the cold items, I will get those first thing tomorrow morning. Dropped those off at our place then headed out to wine store to pick up wine for me and beer for Dave to have ready for his arrival tomorrow. They didn’t carry Pacífico Light so made a couple convenience store stops to find it, I was determined to have it for him! Kiosko carries it, at least they do today!

I was pooped from walking and hauling in the heat of the day so had a little happy hour all by myself, with my feet up, on my balcony:)
I had the fortune of of a whale sighting during my happy hour! This makes 3 sightings for me so far, don’t think Debbie caught any. Have not noticed any dolphins yet.

I stayed in for dinner cooking up some veggies I had bought and heating up the pot pie I had in the freezer from my purchase at the farmers market, it was all so good! It started to rain just before dinner but with the balcony being covered I was still able to enjoy my dinner outside :)

After over 25,000 steps, mostly in the heat of the day, I was tired and in bed at 9:30!

Day 8

Today is Debbie’s  last full day in PV. I give her some ideas on how to spend the last day. She decides a morning walk about before it gets too hot sounds good followed by a day on the beach. We eat a banana and head out. We start along the Malecón and up Isle Cuale then up the iguana bridge to Gringo Gulch passing by the pretty homes up there as well as Casa Kimberly before heading down towards the water and making our way back to our place. I am surprised when I realize we had been on our walk about for almost 2 hours.

The river is really brown! We noticed this yesterday when we went toEl Rio, thinking there must have been heavy rain in the mountains.

Looks like a pet vaccination clinic going on in the park, long line with everything from dogs, cats and birds.

Dogs out for  morning play on the beach

We arrived back at our place around 9:45 and had a quick bite of breakfast, got ready for the beach and were surprised to get a front row spot at my favorite place, Fedencios even with not getting there until just  after 11:00 :) Debbie started right off with a rum punch, Coca Cola light for me....I have to pace myself, I have many more days!

Adorable pug puppy at the beach :)

We enjoyed sunset and happy hour with fellow guests at our place on the roof top before dinner at Cafe de Olla.

Debbie’s last rum punch!

After dinner we walked by C & C’s to see if they had good music, it wasn’t to our liking so headed home and called it a night!

Day 7

Saturday is market day so we got up, had breakfast, got ready for the day to try and head out early. We took a detour down to the beach to see if we could secure a front row lounge chair spot on the beach. La Palapa only had second row, El Dorado was already booked for a week, but Si Senior has space. I told them we would be back in an hour or so. We arrived at the market around 10:00 and it was packed! Only thing we bought was pie from the pie man.
We took the pies back to our place and got ready for a beach day. We had a lovely day at Si Senior and the best ever server, Brenda, I think was her name. It is highly unusual to see a woman server let alone one on the beach. We both actually got in the water today! Still big waves in some areas but we were close to pier, think boats and pier cut down the wave action. Ocean temp was very nice.
I had cochinita pibil tacos,  Debbie club sandwich.

That’s a whole lot of dog!

After a few hours we headed back to our place for a swim and rest then headed out for happy hour. Decided to try Signature Lounge at Pinnacle, we took the tram up to get there. I was thinking it had a better view, found out the best view is the Sky Lounge next door, will try that another day.

Had dinner at Jovie Mole on their upstairs outdoor deck, very lovely area, food just ok.

After dinner watched a show that was going on at a beach restaurant and visited with a couple ladies only to discover their names were also Debbie and Cindy! So of course we had to get our picture with them!

It was a beautiful day and so nice to have a low key beach day after our busy day yesterday :)

Day 6

What a busy full day we had! Can hardly believe we did everything we did, and it was not as planned.
Our plan was for a beach day in Mismoloya. We husseled around to get an early start. Think we caught the bus around 9:30..... early Mexico time :) There was a group of people waiting for the bus with yoga mats, and the yoga mat crowd kept growing. I asked someone if they were heading to a class. They were a group heading for Boca for a fundraising event which was a yoga retreat day at a hotel. Sounded like a great day. They didn’t all fit on the bus there were that many of them.
We arrived at Mismoloya by 10:00. We walked out in the cliff outcropping to where Night of the Aquana was filmed. I kept getting bit by some small insects. We ran into a few huge iguanas along the way, no wonder it was filmed here!

We settled on a beach spot with Ramon, only because he was the first person to greet us when we got to the beach. We had packed PB sandwiches because we were not going to eat here after the conversation yesterday with the gentleman with the house in Mismoloya, so we just wanted loung chairs and diet cokes. Well...seems the tide is especially high right now and water rough so we had a hard time staying on our lounge chairs and not being swept out to sea! After a while we decided maybe this wasn’t so much cheaper fun, threw in the towel, so to speak, mine did wind up soaked, and caught the bus back to PV. We then headed to the beach and found a spot at La Carretta several rows from water because it was after noon. Enjoyed lunch of cheese quesadillas and peacefully read without being swept out to sea :)  I did enjoy walking along the beach, the wave action was unbelievably huge today!

After a couple hours headed back  to our place to change and head out to El Rio BBQ to hear Bobby and Guillerto. We took a taxi out ther. Long line to get in. Today they are doing tickets, you purchase tickets to turn in for food and beverage. Also charged 35 peso to get in, once again always different ever time. Music great, food great, drinks great, location beautiful, what’s not to love!

We leave and I can’t remember where the bus stop is. Debbie is nervous about this but I point out 4 other people are walking in front of us. I ask them where to get the bus and they respond it hadn’t shown up so they are just walking back to centro and it is way they have done it before. I say great we will just follow you guys :) The walk was just fine, but glad to be with others who knew the way! Would never had done that on my own. Think Debbie was not so sure of my judgement though!
We walked to B Badillo street and enjoyed the Friday Night Suffle. Along they way stopped for a drink at Steve’s Bar so we could use the bathroom! There was great music along the street tonight, among them Sylvie, one of our favorites. We looked at a couple art galleries and jewelry store along the way and ended with listening to more music at C&C’s before heading home.

We were hot and tired so went to pool for a dip, only to run into a couple from Boston who have stayed here many years, Terri and Dave, I have never seen them before. Dave is responsible for the puzzles that appear out on the bar on the pool deck, so that mystery is solved! At about 11:00 I had to tell them goodnight and finally returned to our room. I had been a huge day! But that’s how I like them, once in a while :)

Day 5

I have gotten so behind on writing a blog entry! I can’t recall many details of the day so this will be very brief!
I went for a walk to the end of the melecon and back. Usual breakfast of coffee, fruit, and pb toast, actually I think I had stopped and picked up a package of Bimbo cinnamon rolls, had one of those rather than toast, need a change sometimes!
We decided to hang around PV and go for a long exploring walk. Made a couple stops along the way for shopping, or browsing. Debbie has been keeping her eye out for a dress that would be a cooler option to her clothing she brought with her. She found a couple that she liked ok but didn’t buy any. I of course find a cute linen top at Ally’s while waiting for her! So a purchase was made, not be Debbie but me :)
We walked up the river then decided we were hungry so headed to beach for lunch at Daquari Dicks. Club house for me, grilled chicken censor sandwich for Debbie. It is always a lovely lunch there. Visited with an elderly man at the table behind us, he has a house in Mismoloya. I told him we were going there tomorrow, he told us “ what ever you do don’t eat there”.
We had thought we would continue our walk but after lunch we were full and hot so headed back to our place to swim and hang at pool.
Can’t remember what we did until sunset. We sat and played cards on our balcony and watched the sunset then walked to dinner at Los Muertos Pizza, for of course pizza and wine.
Walked back to waterfront and listened to music at C&C’s, always great music here every night.
Back at our place we took a night time swim and watched the pirate ship fireworks.
I took very few pics today but here are a few :)

(Temporary Backup) Day 4

I went for a walk first thing in the morning to the end of Malecón and back stopping at a market for a few supplies on my way back. After breakfast and showers we headed to captcha the bus for the zoo, 12.00 pesos each to the stop at Mismoloya for the zoo. We got to the stop and immediately boarded the bus, much different than yesterday’s bus experience!
Before going into the zoo, 200.00 pesos each, 50.00 pesos for a bag of food, we dowsed ourselves with deep free bug spray. We spent a couple hours at the zoo enjoying and feeding the animals.

Caught the bus back getting off at Lindo Mar Resort to have lunch at La Playita. As we walked in Aurtuto, from Casa Isabel, walks up to me and gives me a hug, I ask what he is doing here, wrong restaurant! He is giving a private tour to a couple and their little girl from the cruise ship. We enjoy a nice lunch and view, water is rough and surf high, no swimming today there. I had shrimp tacos, Debbie chicken enchiladas. We walked the beach back then went to the pool to cool off.

Dinner tonight was Archie’s Wok followed by listening to music at C&C’s.

Day 3

Once again forecast for mostly cloudy day, but I would call it a perfect day :) Debbie and I had fruit, and peanut butter toast in the room then headed off to catch a taxi to Walmart where we would then take a bus to Bucerías. We caught a taxi just down the block from our place for 125.00 pesos to Walmart, Debbie did a little shopping there picking up some new sunglasses. We timed the bus perfectly, no wait at all, only 12.00 pesos to Bucerías. It took about just under an hour to get there. As usual there is entertainment on the bus, today an elderly man singing and playing the drums, I give him some money, I respect their creative ways to use their talents to make money. Along the way I as usual get anxious, I forget how long it takes and exactly where to get off. I ask a local young man next to us “ Bucerías?” Along with hand motions as to up farther? He smiles and nods yes. He too is getting off there and assists us two old ladies across the street and makes sure we are following him! What a gentleman and one of the reasons I love it here!

We find a lovely beach front restaurant to spend our day, Adultos, Laura and I had lunch here a few years ago. We enjoyed walking the beach and watching an extended family group playing in the waves, the wave action was too much for Debbie and me, we did go in up to the knees.....are we getting old???

Yummy shrimp burger.

After a few hours we headed off the the market stalls where Debbie bought a pretty dress, then caught the bus back. We timed it right and immediately boarded the bus, 120.00 pesos each, and take it as far as it would go into town, at the end of the route the driver motions to everyone to get off! We then catch another bus to get us close to our place for 10.00 pesos each,  currently the price anywhere in town or to Mismoloya area.

After a cool off swim at our place we go for Italian food at the little place off the Malecón, pasta for Debbie, meatball sandwich for me, wine for both of us. We stop and listen to the live luscious at C&C’s as we head home, actually we have stopped and listened every night there.
