Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (29, 30,31)

Sunday- We had a quiet day, went for runs, interestingly enough there is a MSC cruise ship in port and they must have docked early. I passed by at least 4 large tour groups along the malecon as I was running back to our place, at about 8:15 am. Rarely do we see tour groups this early in the day. I stopped at the French Bakery and picked up a couple of warm, fresh from the oven sticky buns for breakfast to enjoy with our papaya.

We made sandwiches and packed up for a beach day.  Bear Week has started, thinking started yesterday, but surprisingly the beach was fairly quiet, maybe they crowds of big hairy guys will increase in the next day or so....

We met up with Kitty and Jim for happy hour drinks at Chictini, guess who's drink is who's?

Dave had gin and tonic, Jim a martini, Sangria for me, Kitty a Dirty Monkey.

After drinks we walked over to the island along the river for Indian food at a new restaurant, Rico Indian. I think it opened only a couple months ago by 3 men who have no restaurant experience and none of them are a trained chef. Food was good, service needs help, they are understaffed and along with inexperience it made service a bit interesting. They have live music Thursday-Monday. Music was provided by Enochian Vibes, key board, guitarist and singer. They were very good, later they were joined by friends who each sang a couple numbers. One I found out was one of the owners. We were told this group generally has friends drop by to join in, so much fun and they were obviously having fun playing music. We will come back at least for the music and a glass of wine.

Monday- Dave and I just went for a long morning walk then ended up at Freddy Tucans for breakfast.

When we returned we ran into the owner, Hubert, getting into his wine storage closet which happens to be by our room. We chatted briefly, he showed us his wine, an Italian Red, and his wife's wine, a bottle of prosseco. Then he proceeded to give us the bottle of red he had pulled out of the closet and insisted we take it! We told him, no it is yours, but he insisted saying it makes his heart happy to give it to us. Then he opened the closet to get another bottle for himself, he has a very well stocked closet!

We walked over to Conchas Chinas to have lunch with Kitty and Jim, today is their last day here. We will miss them.

We had reservations at Swedes Bistro for dinner, we made it last week knowing Monday is Swedish Meatball night. We have never been here but it gets good reviews. We started with drinks, beer Dave, Margarita for me, dinner included yummy focaccia, Shrimp Toast appetizer and the meatballs, potato, pickles and lingonberry jam. It was so good, we did take 1/2 of the meatballs home.

Tuesday- Went for morning runs, breakfast in our room, Dave went out for a haircut and I did a little walk about. Then made lunch and packed up for some beach time. We continue to see lots of whale activity both while sitting on the beach and from our balcony.

We joined all of our Villa Olivia friends for happy hour at the roof top. Ted and Linda leave tomorrow so they were trying to get as many of us together for one last time. Some of our Villa Olivia friends have decided not to return next year due to the uncertainty of the sell of the Villa. Ted and Linda will go to Barra next year, this is where they are headed tomorrow for a month. Another couple will go to Spain for the winter. It was so great to get together with the group.

I made some mashed potatoes and frozen veggies to go along with our left over meatballs and enjoyed a beautiful sunset during dinner.
